Black, the colour that goes with everything, is flattering to wear, hides a multitude of sins and makes us look slim, is officially back in fashion this season.
But it never really went away. No wardrobe is complete without a little black dress, staple since the 1920s when designers such as Gabrielle Chanel invented tailored knee-length shift dresses that were perfect for cocktail hour.
In the 50s and 60s Givenchy dressed Audrey Hepburn in the films Sabrina and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, in gamine-chic black trousers and a boat-neck knit and elegant black evening gowns.
So dears, black is to simple? Maybe…but as you know simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
